TEEN INSTITUTE A SUCCESS
Rotary District 7170 sent 10 high school teams from across its district to the Heart of NY Teen Institute in Penn Yan, New York.  This was part of the Opioid Fighting Addiction Grant that was awarded last spring.   JoAnn Wickman and I (Lana Rouff) attended the Teen Institute on Saturday and was quite impressed with not only those young people attending but staff that was empowering these teens with the knowledge, skills and confidence to lead themselves and their peers to lead an drug free life. They were taught how to strengthen their leadership skills, advocate for positive change and promote healthy decision making.  It is the goal of grant that these young people return with an action plan that will benefit their communities with an Action Plan.

The schools attending were:  Spencer-Van-Etten, Margaretville, Delaware Academy at Delhi, Groton, Sherburne-Earlville - Maine-Endwell, Johnson City, Vestal, Chenango Forks, Sidney and New Roots Charter School in Ithaca.
Rotary clubs are encouraged to invite these young people to share their action plans with their clubs.  Contact JoAnn for further information:  wickman@twcny.rr.com
